This special three-day safari between Pretoria and Durban departs during the summer months and includes game drives in two varied and unique game reserves. The train departs in the morning from Rovos Rail's Station in Pretoria and slowly meanders eastwards through the grasslands of the Highveld.
This 1600-kilometre journey is a perfect illustration It then descends the escarpment between Belfast and Waterval Onder, taking the train through what is surely the most spectacular sundowner scenery in South Africa. Awake Malelane for breakfast as the train travels along the boundary of the world-famous Kruger Park. The safari continues south towards Swaziland for an afternoon game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve.
Travel overnight to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve in Zululand, sanctuary of the endangered Black and White Rhino. Enjoy an early morning game drive during which a large variety of game can be seen. The train departs mid morning and winds its way through the lush cane fields and rolling hills of KwaZulu Natal, to arrive in Durban by late afternoon where this scenic safari ends.

Pretoria to Durban
Durban to Pretoria
Day 1:
The Pride of Africa departs Rovos Rail’s Station in Capital Park at 10 am, and arrives Waterval Onder after decending the spectacular Drakensberg Escarpment.
Day 2:
Today breakfast is served as the train departs departs Malelane, for an interesting trip along the border of the Kruger Park. Lunch is served as we then cross into Swaziland, enroute to the Mpaka station.
Upon arriving at 3pm, you will go on an afternoon game drive. Later, you will return to the train for an overnight journey to Hluhluwe in Zululand.
Day 3:
This morning begins at 5 am, for an early morning game drive in Hluhluwe Game Reserve, home of the black and white rhino.
Later, we reboard the train at 9:30 for an relaxing and scenic journey to Durban, where this unforgettable journey comes to an end.
Day 1:
The Pride of Africa departs from Durban Station at 10 am. Lunch will be served as the train passes through the rolling hills and cane-fields of Kwazulu Natal. At 8 pm, Dinner is served in the Dining Car/s as we pass through the Swaziland border.
Day 2:
Today begins with an 5 am Wake up call for an early game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve. At
9:30 am the train departs for Komatipoort.
At 3:15 pm we Arrive Malelane for game drive in the Kruger Park followed by a Boma dinner.
Day 3:
Breakfast is served as the train begins the ascent from Waterval Onder (4300’) and climbs this most attractive escarpment route up to Belfast at 6463’.
Lunch is served as the train departs Witbank and heads for Rayton where a steam engine will haul the train into Pretoria, where we expect to arrive at 3 pm.
