Denali & Prince William Sound Explorer Tour
6 days / 5 nights

This incredible 6 day/5 night itinerary is packed with unforgettable sights. Take a memorable train journey to Denali National Park. With six million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is larger than Massachusetts. Located in the heart of Alaska's magnificent and rugged interior, the park is home to majestic Mt. McKinley, North America's highest mountain. The Park also features glaciers, a sub-arctic ecosystem and an internationally designated biosphere preserve with moose, caribou, Dall sheep, grizzly bears and wolves.

Scenery lovers will especially appreciate the day cruise of Prince William Sound with its glistening glaciers and abundant marine life. Prince William Sound is ringed by the steep and glaciated Chugach Mountains. The coastline is convoluted, with many islands and fjords, several of which contain tidewater glaciers, and provides many opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Itinerary
Day 1: Fairbanks
Today, we'll transfer you to your hotel in Fairbanks. For your enjoyment, there are a host of optional activities that spotlight nearby "must-see" attractions like a leisurely cruise down the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard the historic sternwheeler "Discovery." (We can provide a flight from Anchorage if needed)

Day 2: Fairbanks
Travel to Gold Dredge No. 8 for a fascinating history lesson on the "golden" roots of Fairbanks. Learn how to pan for gold and enjoy a hearty miner's lunch.

Day 3: Fairbanks - Denali
This morning board the luxurious glass-domed cars of the McKinley Explorer for your trip to Denali National Park. This afternoon, get a deeper understanding of one of North America's most remarkable national parks on the famous Tundra Wilderness Tour! Travel some 60 miles into the wilderness of Denali National Park and the heart of bear country. On the fully-guided Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour, you'll get interpretation from your driver/guide, along with 6 to 8 hours of wildlife spotting and spectacular scenery. If the weather cooperates, you'll see Mount McKinley up close. Explore the vastness of Denali's taiga forest and expansive rolling tundra and marvel at the park's awesome beauty and hear colorful stories about the area's cultural and geological history.

Day 4: Denali - Anchorage
Today, the morning is free. Later, board the McKinley Explorer once again for your journey to Alaska's largest city, Anchorage. Anchorage provides many opportunities for entertainment. It is home to Alaska's largest selection of quality Alaska Native art and souvenirs such as finely crafted ivory, Native masks, and carved jade. In addition, Anchorage has access to some of the freshest seafood in the world, which Alaska chefs offer up in a variety of mouth-watering creations. From plump, cold-water Kachemak Bay oysters, to Alaska king crab, fresh-caught halibut, and wild Alaska salmon – the staple of Alaska seafood, Anchorage has it all! And no sales tax!

Day 5: Anchorage - Whittier - Anchorage
Travel to the port town of Whittier through North America's longest highway tunnel. Upon arrival, board your motorcoach for a memorable tour of Prince William Sound, where you can watch for local wildlife. This evening, return to Anchorage.

Day 6: Anchorage
Your tour ends with a transfer from your hotel to the airport.
