Royal Canadian Rockies Experience - Map
Calgary
Your vacation begins in the stampede city of Calgary, Alberta. Calgary is a vibrant city that offers the best of all worlds - a cosmopolitan city of nearly one million with outstanding outdoor adventure and pristine wilderness only an hour away in the Canadian Rockies. You will find a wealth of cultural attractions, diverse restaurants and award-winning cuisine, parks and pathways, specialty shops and trendy night spots in Calgary. Upon arrival, your chauffer will transport you from the Calgary International Airport to the landmark Fairmont Palliser Hotel, where you will check into an exclusive Gold Level room. To kick off your vacation, you are invited to a private reception in the Canadian Pacific Railway Pavilion; afterwards, enjoy dinner in the Rimrock Dining Room. Overnight in Calgary.

Calgary to Golden
After a deluxe continental breakfast, board the Royal Canadian Pacific train and begin your rail journey.  The train travels westward through the Canadian Rockies, with your first stop in the mountain resort of Banff for a guided tour of local historic sites. The world famous resort town of Banff is located in the centre of Banff National Park, flanked on all sides by Alberta's Rocky Mountains. Next, travel to breathtaking Lake Louise for an interpretive hike with a resident naturalist. It's almost impossible, upon first seeing Lake Louise, not to gasp. The beautiful, milky blue lake rests at the foot of Victoria Glacier, which rises majestically behind it, capped by snow and ice year-round. Then, enjoy the spectacular scenery as the train continues west across the Continental Divide, through the famous Spiral Tunnels to Field, then through the Kicking Horse River Valley. At Golden, you spend the night on the train alongside the Columbia River. Golden is surrounded by six National Parks: Banff, Glacier, Jasper, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke and Yoho, and is a center for outdoor recreation in the Canadian Rockies.

Golden to Summit Lake
A luxury motorcoach whisks you to the Kicking Horse Resort, where you can take a gondola ride up to the Eagle Eye's Restaurant for breakfast.  The peak of Eagle's Eye Mountain provides a 360-degree view of the stunning Canadian Rockies. After returning to the train, you will head south aboard the Royal Canadian Pacific through the Columbia River Valley to Cranbrook for a private tour of the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel. Cranbrook is nestled in the Heart of the Kootenays and is surrounded by mountains, yet it has the most sunshine than any other city in British Columbia. In the evening, enjoy a gourmet dinner and overnight stay at Summit Lake on the Continental Divide.

Summit Lake to Eltham
Your rail journey continues with a gentle descent to the Alberta prairies. Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage site, then return to the train at Lethbridge for a breathtaking crossing of the High Level Bridge. Spend the night on the train at serene Eltham, in the heart of the Alberta prairies.

Eltham to Calgary
A short train ride carries you to Okotoks.  We will transfer you by luxury motorcoach to Homeplace Ranch, a unique feature of high cattle country since 1912. Homeplace Ranch is a year round working and guest ranch in Alberta’s high cattle country. Enjoy a guided horseback tour through rich high country farm lands; riding varies from mountain valleys to high foothills, crossing numerous streams, mountain meadows and old Indian trails. A horse will be matched to your experience level, insuring a safe and fun ride. Or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, take a scenic walk of the family-owned ranch. Pet the horses before savoring a rustic steak pit lunch. Return to the train for the final leg of the excursion, reaching vibrant Calgary by mid-afternoon. Check in once again on the Gold Level floor at The Fairmont Palliser Hotel and enjoy dinner at The Rimrock Dining Room.

Calgary
After a deluxe continental breakfast and checkout, a chauffeur returns you to the Calgary International Airport.
