Yukon Klondike Juneau to Anchorage - 2008
12 days / 11 nights

If you've always wanted to answer the "Call of the Wild" be sure to explore the country that was Jack London's inspiration—the Yukon. It's the wild, untamed land of the Klondike Gold Rush and the thousands of rugged stampeders who came to seek their fortune during the 1890's. Many of them stayed on to build the rough-and-tumble towns of Dawson City, Eagle and Tok where the wilderness still calls to many a wanderer.
Itinerary

After your arrival, we'll transfer you to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Alaska's capital city.

Day 3: Skagway - Whitehorse
This morning board the parlor cars of the White Pass & Yukon Route railway. You'll climb the same rugged trail that thousands of gold seekers used during the gold rush of 1898. This evening, enjoy the hilarious Frantic Follies show before turning in.

Day 5: Whitehorse - Dawson City
Journey aboard our deluxe motor coach on the Klondike Highway as you make your way to Dawson City.

Day 6: Dawson City
This is where the prospectors landed to set off to stake their claim in the nearby gold fields. Once known as the "Paris of the North", Dawson is a living museum filled with nostalgia. Townsfolk wear costumes and guide tours of the beautifully restored historic buildings that line the unpaved streets. A visit to the gold fields and Gold Dredge No. 4 gives you a chance to pan for gold just like the sourdoughs did in days gone by. And visit to Diamond Tooth Gertie's makes your visit complete.

Day 7: Dawson City - Tok

This morning board Gray Line of Alaska's exclusive river cruiser, the mv Yukon Queen II for your journey down the Yukon River. Upon arrival in the small town of Eagle, you'll disembark and board your deluxe motor coach for the continuing journey to Tok, the self-proclaimed "dog-mushing capital of the world".

Day 8: Tok - Fairbanks
This morning you'll travel along the famed Alaska Highway as you make your way to Alaska's "Golden Heart" city, Fairbanks. Upon arrival, enjoy a tour of Gold Dredge No. 8, including a hearty miner's lunch and lessons on the finer points of gold panning. The evening is at your leisure.

Day 9: Fairbanks - Denali
This morning board the McKinley Explorer glass-domed railcars for your journey to Denali National Park. This afternoon, get a deeper understanding of one of North America's most remarkable national parks on the famous Tundra Wilderness Tour of the taiga forest and expansive rolling tundra.
