Day 1: Cumberland
Depart our Nation's Capital at 4:05pm and arrive at 7:14 pm this evening by the Capitol Limited to picturesque Victorian Cumberland, MD. Your hotel is just steps away from the station. Overnight at the Holiday Inn, a short walk from century old streets lined with boutiques, galleries, and cafes.
Day 2: Cumberland to Frostburg to Cumberland
Your ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad departs today at 11:30 AM for a relaxing roundtrip ride to Frostburg, climbing 1300 feet behind a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive or a restored diesel engine. Please be ready at the station at Canal Place at 10:45 AM. In Frostburg, visit the Thrasher Carriage Museum and watch the engine reverse direction on the turntable. Arrive back to Cumberland at 3:00 PM. You have time today to explore some of Cumberland's charm; the historic district features 28 stops along the walking tour route including many turn-of-the-century brick buildings dating from 1860-1930. You may also want to enjoy a snack at Queen City Creamery and Deli's 1940's soda fountain.
