Terms & Conditions
Please read the following information carefully as the terms and conditions described herein constitute an agreement between you and those who provide the service. If you decide to book the Sierra Madre Express and make payment on a tour, you thereby agree to accept the terms and conditions of this contract.

Reservations
All online reservations are tentative until you receive written or verbal confirmation from us confirming fare and space availability.

Supplier's Liabilities
RailsNW acts as an agent for you in making arrangements with airlines, hotels, bus lines, and other independent parties to provide you with travel services and accommodations. Although great care is taken to choose suppliers, we are unable to directly control them and, therefore, we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. The travel services provided by these suppliers are subject to the conditions imposed by the suppliers and their liability may be limited by their tariffs, conditions of carriage, international conventions and agreements.

Company Liability
RailsNW and their respective officers, owners, directors, servants and agents, are not responsible for any claims, losses, damages, costs or expenses whether direct or indirect, arising out of injury, accident or death, loss, damages or delay of baggage or other property, or delay, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset, disappointment, distress or frustration, whether physical, mental, or otherwise relating to the provision of railtour operations, travel services and accommodations.

Special Needs/Disability Requirements
RailsNW will make every effort to meet any special needs or requirements of our disabled guests. Some trains have wheelchair accessible coaches. Please notify us of any mobility or special needs at time of booking.

Passport/Visa/Health Regulations
Passports: as of 2007 passport will not be required, but helpful. Alternatively, bring proof of citizenship and plenty of identification.

US Citizens require one of the following: a passport or proof of birth/citizenship and picture ID. However, we do recommend a passport.

We also recommend that you obtain your passport well in advance of your intended departure date to avoid any last-minute inconvenience.

Visas: Not needed if you are a U.S. or Canadian citizen. Check with Mexican immigration for any other nationalities.

Health Regulations: There are no vaccination requirements for international travelers into Mexico.

Baggage
Passengers are encouraged to travel light. Storage space onboard the train is limited.

Gratuities
Gratuities are not generally included in railtour or package tour prices.

Child Rates
No discounts are available.

Reservation Policies: Deposit
A non-refundable $500 per person deposit is required at time of booking to confirm your reservation

Final Payment
Final payment must be received in our office 90 days prior to the date of departure by check or money order.  All returned checks are subject to fees.

Payment for Bookings
Credit cards are accepted for deposit only.  We require a credit card on file for guarantee purposes to hold your trip space, but we cannot accept credit cards for final payment.  Cashier's checks and money orders are strongly preferred.  Please make checks to:  RailsNW, 10200 SW Eastridge Suite #210, Portland OR 97225.

Insurance
We strongly recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance to protect your holiday investment. Please inquire at the time of booking.

Itinerary Changes
Changes may not be permitted once reservations have been made. This is at the discretion of the railroad and subject to minimum $150 per person fee.

Cancellation Policy
A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is due upon booking. This deposit reserves your train compartment. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to departure as detailed above. Final payment is non-refundable. Change fees are subject to the cancellation policy, but may be accommodated depending on circumstance.

Accommodations
RailsNW and our preferred suppliers use deluxe hotels and resorts whenever possible. However, facilities in Mexico and the Copper Canyon tend to be more primitive than in Canada and the United States. Access to hot water, electricity and other modern conveniences is spotty at best in the more remote areas of the Copper Canyon.

Double rooms may have two beds. Triple accommodations mean that there will be only two beds with three adults sharing the accommodation. Special requests, nonsmoking, bed type, etc. are subject to availability at time of check-in. These special requests cannot be guaranteed in advance, though every attempt will be made to accommodate them.

Pets
Please note that all pets or animals (excluding guide dogs) are prohibited.
