Prince Rupert to Prince George
Travel aboard VIA Rail’s Skeena train across Northern British Columbia to Prince George. En route, you will pass through small communities that are rich in native history and culture, and view spectacular lakes and forests. Overnight in Prince George.
Prince George to Jasper
From Prince George, continue eastward on VIA Rail toward the Canadian Rockies. A highlight of the day’s journey will be passing by Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet). Overnight in Jasper.
Jasper to Banff
Travel to the mountain town of Banff via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving at the Columbia Icefield. Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of Athabasca Glacier and learn more about its geological features. Your driver/guide will explain how glaciers are formed and point out some interesting geological features. Time will be available for lunch (not included). Stop briefly at Bow Lake before arriving in Banff late in the afternoon. Overnight in Banff.
Free Day in Banff
You will have an entire day to spend exploring magnificent Banff National Park on your own. Optional activities include soaking in the mineral pools at Upper Hot Springs, enjoying a nature walk on nearby mountain trails, visiting Banff’s historic museum, cruising on Lake Minnewanka, or enjoying a round of golf at The Fairmont Banff Springs. Banff to Kamloops 
Travel aboard the Rocky Mountaineer® from Banff to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia. The journey provides a spectacular range of scenery as you travel between the high peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores, and across the ranchlands of the interior. The day’s highlights include: the Continental Divide; the Spiral Tunnels; Kicking Horse Canyon; Rogers Pass; Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven; and of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Kamloops to Vancouver 
Your rail excursion continues westward toward the Pacific and the coastal city of Vancouver. During the journey you will experience dramatic changes in scenery, from the arid environment of the interior, to the winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the rugged Coast and Cascade Mountains, and the rich green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River, and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon. Your rail trip ends upon arrival in Vancouver during the evening.
