Day 1: Chama
Check in to Chama after 3:00PM. Chama is New Mexico’s Hidden treasure with outstanding beauty all around and many outdoor activities. The evening is yours to explore great places like El Vado Lake or even Tierra Wools to get authentic hand spun clothing.
Day 2: Chama to Osier to Chama
All Aboard the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. The longest and highest narrow gauge track around. You will be exceeding 10,000 feet along your journey to Osier. A one hour lunch stop in Osier is included in your fair is a hot buffet lunch. There is abundant fauna and flora to look at on this exploration back in time. Among the animals you may see are; hawks, eagles, coyote, even some bear.
Day 3: Chama to Durango (Drive)
Checkout of your Chama Hotel. Drive to Mesa Verde National park and explore the cliff dwellings carved out of the rock face. When you arrive in Durango you can check into your hotel after 3:00PM. Walk around town or take advantage of the town trolley to get you were you want to go.
Day 4: Durango to Silverton to Durango
You will be traveling along the Animas River to Silverton, Co. Silverton is a place like no other. It has survived the end of the mining surge unlike the ghost towns you can see around the area. In this historic old mining town you will have 2 hours to grab a bite to eat and get the feel for small town living at its best. Return by train to Durango, and another peaceful nights rest.
Day 5: Durango
Check out of your Durango Hotel by 11:00AM. Enjoy a leisurely trip home after this relaxing trip through the Rockies.

Built 127 years ago and little changed since, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a 64-mile, fully operational steam railroad jointly owned by the states of Colorado and New Mexico. The railroad operates passenger trains seven days a week from Saturday, May 24 to Sunday, October 19.
