Settle into your hotel on your arrival in the stunning Western Australian capital of Perth. The afternoon is yours to explore this vibrant and friendly city. Perth offers some of Australia’s best beaches, beautiful inner city parks and wonderful outdoor dining. Or visit colourful Fremantle, the Perth Mint and the Swan Bell Tower. OVERNIGHT: Perth.
Wednesday – Perth, Kalgoorlie.
The day begins at Kings Park with a decadent champagne breakfast overlooking the city and magnificent Swan River. You then board the train and follow the Swan upstream to where it joins the Avon River and the Avon Valley National Park. Later in the day, join a renowned astronomer for a captivating talk about the stars. In the evening, you arrive at the colourful mining town of Kalgoorlie where you’ll experience a taste of the mining culture this town is famous for, including a trip to the Super Pit. Thursday – Nullarbor Plain, Cook.
Travel across the vast Nullarbor Plain, a truly unique Australian Outback experience. Enjoy a short stop in the isolated community of Cook, where you can meet the locals – all four of them! Back on board, enjoy poetry readings on the Australian bush, before indulging in a distinctly Australian dining experience as we cruise toward the South Australian border, en route to Adelaide. Friday – Adelaide.
Arrive in Adelaide and enjoy breakfast overlooking the River Torrens, before taking advantage of today’s included activities. Explore one of two world-renowned wine districts – the Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale. Both famous for their fine wine, picturesque scenery and gourmet produce. Sample some wines over lunch at a boutique winery before returning to your hotel. This evening is yours to spend as you wish, relaxing or indulging in the fine dining Adelaide is famous for. Saturday – Adelaide, Coober Pedy.
In the morning rejoin The Southern Spirit and journey past the spectacular peaks of the Southern Flinders Ranges. After lunch listen to the bush tucker tales of your special guest speaker, before a fascinating visit to the opal-mining town of Coober Pedy. Discover what makes this remote community so unique as you experience a subterranean world: explore mines by candlelight, try your luck at noodling for opals and even dine underground. Sunday – Alice Springs.
Draw your cabin blinds this morning to reveal the beauty of sunrise over the red earth of Central Australia. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as The Southern Spirit makes it way to the outback town of Alice Springs. Once in “The Alice”, you can choose from a host of exciting excursions such as a helicopter tour of the MacDonnell Ranges or taking a camel to dinner. The afternoon is yours to explore Australia’s most famous outback town. OVERNIGHT: Alice Springs. (B)
Monday – Uluru (Ayers Rock).
Today begins an unforgettable three-day Uluru and Kings Canyon tour. We travel to Uluru through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort. This afternoon, drive out to the magnificent domes of Kata Tjuta and walk deep into Walpa (Olga) Gorge. Travel to sunset strip to view the kaleidoscope of colours of Uluru whilst enjoying a glass of wine and admire one of the world’s most magnificent light displays before savouring a stunning dinner under the stars. Tuesday – Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kings Canyon.
PLATINUM: Rise early and experience the first rays of dawn setting Uluru alight. Tour the base of Uluru on the Mala Walk or, if you choose, you can climb Uluru for an unforgettable view. Continue to Kings Canyon. OVERNIGHT: Kings Canyon. (B, L, D)
GOLD: Travel to the magical Kings Canyon in the Watarrka National Park. Enjoy a guided walk to the rim of Kings Canyon (this requires a good degree of fitness).Amore relaxed walk along the shaded canyon floor is also available. Return to Uluru. OVERNIGHT: Ayers Rock. (B, L, D)

Enjoy a leisurely festive breakfast before being transferred at noon to the Alice Springs Desert Wildlife Park, for an exclusive, celebratory Christmas lunch with a visit from Outback Santa. A sensational menu with an Australian flair will delight the senses as you dine amongst rare and endangered animals in the nocturnal house. Friday – Katherine, Darwin.
In the morning we stopover in Katherine, where the outback meets the tropics. Experience the magic of Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and its spectacular 25 million year old sandstone canyons. Cruise the Katherine Gorge with Devonshire Tea, Dreamtime stories and cultural presentations. In the afternoon we depart Katherine bound for Darwin, crossing the Adelaide River before we reluctantly say farewell, taking away fond memories of a cruise of a lifetime.
