Gold Dredge No. 8
At Gold Dredge No. 8, Gray Line of Alaska has developed a variety of experiences to offer you. A short video with actual footage of dredge in operation provides an overview of the entire stripping, thawing, and dredging processes. Afterwards, you are encouraged to wander through the attraction's Bunk House, Bath House and Dredgemaster's House as well as the Supply Center to view interpretive panels and exhibits in order to learn more about dredges, the daily life of the dredge crews, and the operations of the Fairbanks Exploration Company. Next, you are guided through the dredge itself to view its equipment and gain a better understanding of its size. Finaly, supplied with an individual "poke" of dirt, you learn first-hand how to pan for gold and keep what you find!
